Meet our staff:

Holly Furgason, Head Trainer

After an extensive apprenticeship under a highly experienced trainer and canine behaviorist, Holly started Pup Scouts Dog Training to meet the needs of urban dogs and their families. Holly is used by several large Houston area rescues to work with their most difficult dogs to make them adoptable.

Holly's background includes experience in all levels of obedience training, Agility, RallyO and tricks but she focuses on obedience training for the pet dog, helping owners and their pets enjoy their lives together. Her background in education adds depth to the sound training techniques she uses in her classes and consultations.

Courtney Plake, Manager/Trainer

Courtney trained her first dog at the age of 6 and hasn’t stopped. Since then she has worked also with dogs in various professional capacities including bather, vet tech and foster mom. Her training includes obedience, agility and behavior but her specialty is loose leash walking and she excels at working with bully breeds especially the American Pit Bull Terrier.

Courtney also has a passion for training parrots and her pets include Violet, a rescue APBT and Canine Good Citizen, Charlie, a dog, Taco, an African Grey parrot and Wortham, a White Fronted Amazon. The newest member of her pack is Chase, her first human.

Anita Leung, Trainer

Jordan Ensell, Assistant Trainer

Jordan has grown up around animals and special needs children. She has volunteered during the summer working with horses for a children's therapy riding camp. She signed her German Shepherd puppies up for Basic Obedience at Pup Scouts and found she was a natural at dog training. Ever since, she has been working there and enjoying every second of it. She loves working with all the dos including her three at home. She's still in the process of learning and currently assists with classes and supervises the daycare dogs. She hopes to be a head trainer at Pup Scouts and compete in RallyO and Agility.

Nicole Quincy, Assistant Trainer

Kris Langenfeld, Assistant Trainer

After 15 years of corporate America, Kris decided to leave the rat race and pursue a career working with dogs. She trained her dogs in obedience and agility, then realized it was much more fulfilling than creating powerpoint presentations.

Pictured with Kris is Katja, one of her three rescue dogs. Katja, a three year old Pit bull mix, had a rough start in life fending for herself on the streets of Houston. But now Katja enjoys all the tummy rubs and luxuries of a well pampered little girl.

Pusher, stay! Good, boy!

In-home Heel Exercises:
First, I have to wait patiently while Holly explains everything to Mom. I'm listening- really. It's all about focus. Here we go! "Teddy, heel!" And I get it the first time! "Good boy!"

Now it's my brother's turn. He got it the first time too- even with mom! That was too easy!

Puppy Yin Yang at Puppy Playschool:
Sorry the images are so small but these two are just so cute together than I had to post them!
