SIMPLE DOG TRICKS
This trick is just too easy. Almost all dogs will wag their tails when their family members call them. To do this trick just call your dog’s name in a happy voice and then quickly add, “Wag your tail!” Give lots of praise and a treat, which will cause him to wag even more.
This one is really easy too. Most dogs love to lick our faces. When your dog does, just give the command “Kiss!” and then reward. If you dog isn’t the kissy type, use a little real butter. Rub a small amount on the place where you want to be kissed and then let him lick the butter off while giving the command. If you would like your dog to be refined, use the “Kiss!” command while presenting the back of the hand.
Most dogs will use their paws to try to get something they want. For this trick, hold a treat securely between the first two fingers of your open hand. Get your dog’s attention by having him smell the treat. Tell him, “High five!” If he tries to get the treat with is mouth, pull back your hand and a correction- “No.” Repeat the command until he tries to get the treat with his paws and quickly give a high five. Give him the treat and lots of verbal praise immediately.
This is a fun twist on the “Speak!” command. It requires that your dog know the hand signal for “Speak!” To teach this command, do whatever it takes to get your dog barking. Then quickly say “Speak!” and, holding your hand near your face, pretend you are making a sock puppet move its mouth. As soon as the dog barks after the command, reward him with a treat. Once your dog will bark with only the hand signal, you can add anything want with your voice. Ask your dog to say anything at all or answer a question using the hand signal at the same time and it will sound like your dog is really talking.
